Our homes were built with money borrowed from the State of New York
and the Federal Government through the New York State Division of
Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) and United States Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD). They provide decent, safe,
sanitary and affordable homes for eligible families. The money loaned
by these agencies must be repaid so housing programs must be operated
in a business-like manner.
DHCR and HUD have both singled out the KHA for recognition as one of
the top performing public housing agencies in the State and Nation.
That sort of support would not be possible without the dedication of
our staff and cooperation of all residents. Pride in our communities
is a theme that runs through all we think and all we do. It is
Community Pride that sets us apart from the rest.
With a respect for our past and an eye on the future, we believe we
have developed a clear vision of how to grow and succeed in an
environment of shrinking government assistance. We do more than just
put a roof overhead. Today, we include on our resume: youth education
and development, job training, crime control, service to the
community and the development of new affordable housing.
We are proud to say that our management and maintenance techniques
are highly regarded and sought by the private sector as well as the
assisted housing industry.
